We are now recruiting for a newly created Procurement Executive role, based at our Hertfordshire head office.

What will I be responsible for?

You'll build the buying backbone for raw materials and packaging at IBC Simply: setting up competitive tendering, putting supplier contracts in place, and driving group-buy opportunities across the Delightful Food Group. Day to day, you'll source new ingredients for NPD, review and optimise our existing suppliers, own input pricing and cost tracking, and turn market and commodity insight into actions that reduce cost and protect margin. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to get stuck in and make a visible impact fast.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement and Supplier Management

  • Source and compare supplier quotations to ensure best value, quality, and reliability.
  • Support supplier negotiations and contract renewals, escalating key decisions to the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, ensuring proactive communication around lead times, delays, and price movements.
  • Monitor supplier performance on service levels, OTIF, and quality issues, logging data for review.

Cost Management and Reporting

  • Maintain and update supplier price lists and cost trackers within Sage 200 and Excel.
  • Support the preparation of monthly cost reports and savings analysis.
  • Track commodity price trends (e.g. sugar, cocoa, dairy, packaging) and flag risks or opportunities.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting by providing accurate cost inputs.

Collaboration and Cross-Functional Support

  • Work with the Supply Chain Executive to align purchasing with production plans and customer demand.
  • Liaise with the Stock & Systems Manager to ensure accurate stock data, supplier lead times, and MOQ settings in Sage.
  • Collaborate with NPD and Operations to source new ingredients, packaging, or alternative materials for new product development or cost optimisation.
  • Assist in planning supplier call-offs and delivery schedules to maintain supply continuity.
  • Provide general administrative support across the Supply Chain team and cover key Supply Chain Executive duties during periods of holiday or absence.

Systems and Process Improvement

  • Support development of structured procurement templates such as RFQs, supplier evaluation forms, and savings trackers.
  • Contribute ideas to improve purchasing processes, reporting accuracy, and supplier communication.

Group Collaboration

  • Provide occasional support to our sister company, March Foods, on procurement-related projects or benchmarking activity as part of wider group collaboration.
  • Lead group-buy initiatives across IBC Simply and March Foods (Delightful Food Group) to leverage scale, rebates and better terms.

What are you looking for in the ideal candidate?

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in procurement or buying within a food or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Confident with Excel, data analysis, and ERP systems (Sage 200 experience an advantage).
  • Good understanding of stock control, supply planning, and supplier lead times.
  • Organised, accurate, and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Hours of Work:

Monday – Friday: 8:30am to 5:00pm

Salary

£32,000 depending on experience

Location:

Wheathampstead, St. Albans, Hertfordshire. Some travel will be required from time-to-time to our factory in March, Cambridgeshire and our warehouse in Basildon, Essex.
