Overview
Do you have the ambition, enthusiasm and technical capability to work with us as a hydrogeologist within the contaminated land sector? We are looking for someone to join our successful Sustainable Land and Resource Management (SL&RM) hydrogeology team in delivering a growing portfolio of projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified / experienced hydrogeologist looking to progress their career in a vitally important industry with an internationally renowned company.
AtkinsRéalis is one of the world's most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies, with over 35,000 employees worldwide. At AtkinsRéalis, we offer more than just a job. We offer an opportunity to make a difference and shape the world to benefit future generations and the natural environment.
As part of our Environment practice, our highly respected SL&RM business operates at the interface between people and the water environment, with our hydrogeologists tackling problems relating to groundwater protection and management on an array of infrastructure projects. We offer our clients a team of passionate, intelligent, digitally minded, capable, and innovative staff with a unique blend of diverse technical skills. We enjoy working collaboratively and innovatively, delivering projects that bring about real change and that make a positive difference to the environment and society. This provides great career development opportunity for our staff.
Our hydrogeologists work at the forefront of managing the risks to our water environment and ensure this environment is protected from new infrastructure development and existing infrastructure decommissioning. We are undertaking an increasing number and range of important and exciting projects for a range of clients in sectors such as energy, defence, transport, mining, and water supply, to name a few. Building on this success, we are growing our team, and this growth could include you. You could help us to win and deliver work across our extensive client portfolio and enhance our reputation for excellence.
As an experienced hydrogeologist, you will have delivered groundwater related project tasks in the UK and/or internationally. - You are likely to undertake and delegate complex problem solving to more junior staff that may include data gathering and processing, calculations and modelling, conceptualization, reporting, proposal writing and costing.
- Collaborative and supportive teamwork is vital to our success, and you will work closely with the rest of the SL&RM team sometimes delegating to, checking the work of and mentoring more junior staff.
- You will also work collaboratively with other technical disciplines in the SL&RM team and beyond, delivering a range of projects relating to groundwater and contaminated land.
About You
- With a degree in science, engineering or mathematics and a post-graduate qualification in hydrogeology or a related subject, you are likely to be a member of a relevant professional body.
- You will have demonstrable experience as a hydrogeologist, gained within consultancy, water companies, regulatory bodies, or academic environments.
- Your experience may include hydrogeological impact assessments, water environment risk assessments, groundwater modelling, dewatering management, environmental surveys, ground investigation scheduling, and borehole design and testing.
- You will have a good understanding of UK hydrogeology and of the environmental regulatory framework of UK water management.
- You will have good numerical, analytical, report-writing and presentational skills and an eye for detail.
- You will be highly motivated and proactive and enjoy solving challenging water resources problems within a high achieving team environment.
