We're looking for a
People Administrator
to join our People Team at the Diocese of Rochester. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with HR or administrative experience who is passionate about supporting others, ensuring best practice, and helping to create a safe, healthy, and thriving work environment.
About The Role
You'll play a key part in delivering the People Team's work, supporting recruitment, onboarding, HR administration, and staff wellbeing initiatives. You'll ensure that processes run smoothly, records are accurate, and colleagues receive excellent support.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Supporting recruitment campaigns – creating adverts, coordinating interviews, and liaising with candidates
- Administering onboarding for new starters, including references, DBS, training, and induction planning
- Maintaining accurate HR records, including sickness, leave, and absence tracking
- Supporting HR processes such as disciplinary, grievance, and maternity/paternity administration
- Preparing employee correspondence and maintaining up-to-date staff files and templates
- Providing administrative support for HR meetings, training, surveys, and wellbeing initiatives
- Assisting the Head of People with diary management, documentation, and policy updates
- Supporting HR project work, data reporting, and the upkeep of the Staff Handbook
- Handling all confidential information professionally and in line with data protection
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on structure and detail, values teamwork, and takes pride in delivering excellent administrative support.
About You
- We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in HR or general office administration
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- A confident communicator—both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Professional, discreet, and able to handle confidential information appropriately
- Able to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Proactive and willing to learn, with a genuine interest in developing HR skills
- A team player who enjoys supporting others and contributing to shared goals

Following the successful completion of the six-month probationary period, we may be able to offer support to complete CIPD Level 5 qualification. This is subject to being able to secure suitable apprenticeship funding.
