Care Home Group | Midlands, UK

We are a growing care home group in the Midlands, currently in a turnaround and expansion phase, with a clear strategy for acquisitions and refinancing.

We are looking for a
strong Bookkeeper / Finance Analyst
who wants to take ownership of day-to-day finance operations, while developing into a broader commercial and M&A-focused role over time.

This is a hands-on position with real exposure to decision-making, forecasting, and acquisition analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Core Finance & Bookkeeping (Primary focus):

  • Processing and reviewing purchase invoices and supplier statements
  • Supplier management, payment runs and query resolution
  • Bank reconciliations and cash movement tracking
  • Supporting payroll and PAYE processes
  • Maintaining clean, accurate records across multiple care homes
  • Working with cloud-based systems (Xero / Excel Online / SharePoint)

Forecasting & Financial Modelling (Mandatory):

  • Building and maintaining cash flow forecasts
  • Creating simple operating models (revenue, costs, EBITDA)
  • Supporting weekly and monthly management reporting
  • Analysing variances and highlighting risks early

M&A & Growth Exposure (Development path):

  • Supporting financial due diligence on acquisitions
  • Assisting with acquisition models and scenario analysis
  • Preparing data packs for lenders and advisors
  • Working closely with senior management on expansion strategy

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven hands-on experience in bookkeeping / finance operations
  • Strong Excel skills –
    financial modelling is mandatory
  • Comfortable working with real data, not just theory
  • Experience with Xero (or similar cloud accounting systems) – advantage
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Attention to detail, ownership mindset, and commercial awareness

Considered an advantage

  • ACCA / CIMA (qualified or part-qualified)
  • Previous exposure to due diligence
  • Experience in healthcare, care homes, or regulated environments
  • Interest in M&A and business growth

Location & Working Style

  • Midlands-based (office presence required initially)
  • Hybrid possible over time
  • Full-time role (part-time / freelance may be considered for the right candidate)
