We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced LGV / Cat C / Class 2 Multi Drop Delivery Driver to join our team based in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

The Role

As Multi Drop Delivery Driver you will report to the Warehouse Manager/Transport Supervisor and be responsible for the transport and movement of materials to fulfil customer/branch orders to schedule within health and safety guidelines. Your duties will include:

  • The safe and efficient receipt, movement and storage of goods via company vehicle and manifest – some hand-balling required and maintenance of POD paperwork
  • To maintain the vehicle in a roadworthy condition and adhere to all DVSA regulations
  • To plan the most effective and efficient routes to suit delivery schedule and to minimise diesel usage where possible
  • To work efficiently and safely in the operation of machinery to lift and load material onto wagon to driver's manifest provided
  • To assist in the management, storage and audit of stock in the warehouse through good housekeeping and maintenance of quality control procedures when not driving
  • To collect customer payments when required and to pass on to admin or management upon return
  • To work as part of a team with warehouse operatives to load and unload materials in timely fashion
  • To show courtesy and be helpful to customers/suppliers when collecting, delivering or returning materials to warehouse
  • Maintain a safe workplace/vehicle without risk to health by proper and timely assessment of risks to health and safety, and to implement measures and arrangements identified as necessary from the management
  • Attend meetings and contribute to company strategy as required

The Person

As a Multi Drop Delivery Driver, you will need to have:

  • Class 2 driving licence with no more than 6 points
  • DCPC
  • Digital Tacho card
  • Ability to work to deadlines on own and show initiative to solve problems when delivering materials
  • Great Communication skills to liaise with all types of customers
  • Driving skills coupled with the relevant skills and experience to enable safe movement and carriage of goods. A forklift licence and training would be beneficial
  • An ability to understand and learn different machinery to enable lifting and storage of materials when not driving in support of warehouse team
  • Excellent attention to detail enabling management of load and checking of manifest on a daily basis
  • Basic health and safety knowledge

Hours & Rewards

As a Multi Drop Delivery Driver you will work Mon -Thu 08:00-17:30*, Friday) however you are expected to share 2/3 weekly overnight runs to Manchester/Walsall (sleeping in the cab) between 4 additional drivers and you will receive:

  • Circa £42-46,000 per annum depending on hours worked
  • Contributory pension scheme 4%/4%
  • Driver Quality Bonus Scheme £100, £15 /hr rate plus overtime
  • £26 overnight money, and £65 Sunday, £75 Bank Holiday*
  • 20 days Holiday plus 8 Statutory Holidays*
  • Free local parking and overnight personal vehicle storage

*subject to rota and overnight runs between 4 drivers

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £42,000.00-£46,000.00 per year
