Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and professional Medical Secretary to provide essential administrative support within a busy healthcare environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring exceptional communication with hospitals and other external agencies, managing patient correspondence, and maintaining accurate records. Duties
- Handling incoming calls, emails, and correspondence with courtesy and professionalism
- Writing medical referrals as requested by healthcare professionals from written instructions to verbal dictations
- Ensuring patients experience in their healthcare journey is smooth from GP to secondary care
- Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with data protection regulations
- Preparing and distributing medical reports, letters, and other documentation as required
- Assisting healthcare professionals with administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and data entry
- Coordinating with other departments to ensure seamless clinic operations
- Managing administrative paperwork related to billing, insurance claims, and referrals
- Transcribing audio transcriptions
Requirements
- Proven office experience, ideally within a healthcare or medical setting
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Administrative experience demonstrating attention to detail and confidentiality
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Professional demeanour with a compassionate approach towards patients and colleagues
