Oxfordshire Breastfeeding Support is a small charity providing free direct breastfeeding support to the families of Oxfordshire.

We are seeking to recruit a Trustee with responsibility for Fundraising Strategy and Liaison.

What difference will you make?

Recruiting a Trustee for Fundraising Strategy and Liaison will will provide much needed support to the Fundraising Lead andhelp to ensure OBS can continue to support families to reach their breastfeeding goals, as well as achieve our plans for targeted growth in our service.

What are we looking for?

Candidates should be passionate about community breastfeeding support, able to volunteer in the role for several hours a month (including preparation for, and attendance of, quarterly board meetings) and with transferable skills relevant to the role of secretary or fundraising strategy & liaison. Previous trustee or governance experience is desirable but not essential.

Essential Skills/experience

  • A good understanding of fundraising or income generation
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Working effectively as a team member and demonstrating a willingness to learn and develop
  • Organisational skills
  • Writing skills

Desirable Skills/experience

  • Experience in the charitable or voluntary sector
  • Experience of charity law and governance
  • Experience with Google Workspace (Drive, Docs etc)

What will you be doing?

Oxfordshire Breastfeeding Support is seeking to recruit a trustee responsible for fundraising strategy and liaison for a period of 2-3 years. In addition to the role description of a general trustee (provided below), the trustee will

  • Have regular contact with the fundraising lead to support fundraising activity
  • Have oversight of the organisation's fundraising strategy, including the setting of middle and long term fundraising targets with the fundraising lead
  • Take a lead role and coordinate other trustees to be involved with writing and editing fundraising applications

Background

OBS relies solely on voluntary donations in order to exist. We currently fundraise in the following ways

  • Localgiving website where our service users donate/set up monthly giving
  • Major donors
  • Fundraising events
  • Applications to trusts and foundations. For example we have previously received funding from the National Lottery, Oxfordshire Community Foundation, Midcounties Co-op and Comic Relief.
