We are looking to introduce a hygienist for 1-2 days a week. The ideal candidate will be already hep b immunized, be GDC registered, hold a current indemnity insurance and have a clear DBS check.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring optimal oral health for each patient
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, treatment options, and preventive care tailored to pediatric dentistry when applicable
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and managing medical records securely
- Support infection control standards by sterilizing instruments, managing dental supplies, and maintaining a clean clinical environment
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness to facilitate seamless communication with the dental team and support medical coding processes
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental office or clinic setting with familiarity in general dentistry procedures
- Hands-on knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental care delivery
- Skilled in chairside assisting techniques with an emphasis on pediatric dentistry when working with children or young patients
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, documentation review, and record management
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures in accordance with OSHA standards
- Ability to accurately assess patient needs through thorough evaluation of medical history and current oral health status
- Knowledge of medical coding practices related to dental procedures for billing and insurance purposes
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively while demonstrating empathy and professionalism
