The Role
A new, exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Cricket Operations to join Somerset County Cricket Club
You can play a crucial role in empowering Somerset County Cricket Club, by propelling the systems, standards, and culture that underpin success. Through effective planning and execution of all professional cricket operations, you can drive an environment where players and coaches can focus entirely on performance.
The main purpose of the role is to ensure the smooth, compliant, and professional delivery of all operational aspects of cricket across men's and women's teams at Somerset County Cricket Club, ensuring they are managed efficiently, allowing the coaching and leadership staff to focus on strategic delivery and performance. It plays a pivotal part in enabling high performance by overseeing logistics, regulations, resourcing, and cricket-specific infrastructure.
To give you a snapshot of what this role involves, you will oversee all cricket planning and matchday delivery for men's and women's fixtures, tours, and pre-season activities. Your role involves ensuring smooth execution of home and away matches by managing logistics, schedules, accreditation, and player requirements, while serving as the main contact for operational and cricket-specific issues. You will coordinate travel, accommodation, and transport arrangements to ensure they are cost-effective and aligned with performance goals. Additionally, you'll supervise the procurement, storage, and management of clothing and equipment, and coordinate venue access and training facilities.
You will act as the primary contact for players and staff, resolving logistical queries and supporting their performance focus. This includes managing onboarding, planning tours and training camps, and liaising with grounds and coaching staff to align pitch preparation with team needs. You will ensure compliance with ECB regulations, managing registrations, eligibility, and contracts. Your responsibilities also include managing the cricket operations budget, collaborating on strategic planning, and building strong relationships with venue, business, and performance teams. You will uphold safeguarding, EDI, and health and safety standards in all activities to ensure smooth, compliant, and strategic cricket operations.
About You
Amongst other essential criteria, you will have strong operational and logistical management experience within cricket, including effectively managing relationships to ensure cost-effective operations and overseeing the drafting and management of player contracts. You'll have a detailed understanding of cricket regulations, competition structures, and compliance requirements, along with proven ability to coordinate complex logistics across multiple venues under pressure. Leadership skills are essential to motivate and develop teams, while excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and negotiation abilities will facilitate effective stakeholder engagement. Additionally, strong administration, planning, and financial management skills are necessary to deliver high standards of performance and navigate emerging challenges successfully.

You maintain a high level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information, while being approachable and empathetic in interactions. With a collaborative working style, you hold the ability to positively influence stakeholders and develop effective relationships.
You will need to be eligible to work in the UK.
In return, you'll be joining a team who values everyone's contribution. You'll receive a competitive salary, access to health benefits and employee assistance programme, continued professional development support, free parking and more.
