What you'll be doing
We're looking for a charismatic and dynamic leader to step into the role of Head of Communications, someone who can bring big ideas, a bold personality, and a contagious enthusiasm to our communications strategy.
As our Head of Communications, you'll be the voice that connects our people with the heart of our business. You'll lead from the front, managing our communications platforms and orchestrating the flow of information to keep our teams informed, engaged, and inspired, and to maintain our image and reputation externally.
Your role will span internal and external strategic communications planning, content creation, and execution – ensuring seamless communication that aligns with our brand tone and voice. This role also has accountability for ESG, as well as our main internal business events, including Leadership Conferences, and our external Public Relations.
Here's how you'll make an impact:
- Develop and execute a bold, creative internal communications strategy that aligns with our company's vision/values and rapidly evolving goals.
- Deliver a unique-to-us external communications strategy that includes PR and Thought Leadership, identifying market opportunities, elevating our spokespeople and expertise, and managing reputational risk.
- Develop our ESG strategy and planning, ensuring our commitments align with our business and resonate with our stakeholders.
- Lead the creation of vibrant, compelling content that brings our company's story to life across all internal channels, including newsletters, videos, intranet, and live events.
- Drive initiatives that energize our colleagues, amplify our unique culture, and foster a strong sense of community and belonging.
- Be a visible, approachable leader who can connect with colleagues at all levels, delivering messages with personality, passion, and authenticity.
- Continuously seek out and implement fresh, innovative approaches to communication, leveraging new tools, platforms, and trends to keep our messaging dynamic and engaging.
- Inspire, mentor, and lead all creative communications, cultivating a culture of collaboration, excellence, and high energy.
- Act as a key advisor to leadership during times of change, ensuring clear, empathetic, and impactful communication that guides employees through transitions.
- Lead communication efforts during crises with confidence and clarity, ensuring all stakeholders are well-informed and supported.
- Use metrics and employee feedback to assess the impact of communication efforts and continuously improve engagement and effectiveness.
- Lead our event calendar, ensuring our company events are engaging, well communicated and within budget.
- Helping to manage and improve internal communications channels and processes, including but not limited to the intranet, content management systems, e-mail, videos, workshops, social media, and events, along with line-manager and Exec communications.
- Being responsible for managing the company's intranet and collaborating with colleagues across the business to build a calendar of key business-wide communications.
Who are you:
You are a dynamic communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and brings a bold personality to everything you do. You have a proven track record of crafting and delivering impactful communication strategies, and you're always looking for fresh, creative ways to engage and connect with colleagues. Your passion, adaptability, and big ideas will be key in shaping our internal communications and ESG strategy and driving a strong sense of community across the business.
We are a group of creative thinkers, dedicated to enhancing the employee experience and ensuring our company's voice is heard loud and clear. We work together to brainstorm ideas, support one another, and bring innovative communication strategies to life. We value diversity, inclusion, and the unique perspectives each team member brings.
The core attributes we would value in this role are:
- A Master Communicator: You have exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex business updates into clear, engaging messages that inspire action.
- Cultural Leader: Passionate about employee engagement, you are energized by the opportunity to shape and influence company culture. You're committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels heard, respected, and included, and you actively seek out diverse perspectives.
- People Leader: This role has direct reports across Internal Communications and ESG, and so the ability to lead and inspire is essential.
- Creative Thinker: You bring fresh ideas and creative solutions to the table, always pushing the boundaries to ensure internal communications are compelling and innovative.
- Experienced Organiser: You're highly organized with a proven track record of managing multiple projects, including large-scale conferences and events.
- Brand Champion: You have a strong understanding of brand tone and voice and are comfortable creating visually engaging, on-brand templates and materials.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with digital tools and platforms, you have experience managing internal communications channels and implementing new digital signage solutions.
- A Strategic Mind: You think big, see the bigger picture, and know how to align communications strategies with business objectives.
- You're a natural leader: with the presence and energy to captivate and inspire large, diverse audiences.
- Enthusiasm: You thrive in a fast-paced environment, and your enthusiasm is contagious. You bring a positive, can-do attitude to every challenge.
- Adaptable: You're comfortable with change and can quickly pivot to meet evolving needs and priorities.
- Experience: Relevant career experience in a communications role with demonstrable skills designing, delivering, and measuring the success of communication strategies and plans, and proven ability to create compelling and impactful messages in all media. You will have practical experience of end-to-end planning and delivery of events and conferences.
