Senior Clinical Fellow in Medicine for the Elderly

Based at the Royal Derby Hospital (RDH) and working at either RDH, Queen's Hospital Burton (QHB) or rotating across both, we are appointing to our senior clinical fellow (ST4 equivalent level) posts within our Department of Medicine for the Elderly team. This will be a full-time or part time, fixed-term service appointment for 1-year fixed term with a possibility of extension. You will be based within the Department of Medicine for the Elderly and work with consultants, advanced care practitioners (ACPs), Therapists and Discharge Support Officers to deliver a responsive service to medical patients throughout the hospital. Your speciality team will give you consistent support and further learning opportunities.

There will be an element of out of hours work, including evenings and weekends, providing registrar cover for the Medical out of hours or Renal HDUs at RDH on a 1:7 basis and QHB on a 1:9 basis. Where you are on call depends upon your placement/rotation. The 1st on call middle grade rota at QHB consists of day cover and night cover with a handover at the start and end of the shifts. You will be responsible for managing the medical take and will lead the junior doctor on call team and resus team.

There is consultant presence on site for the take seven days a week. Overnight supervision by consultants is from home. Until 2400 each night there are two middle grades in the hospital.
