London, Greater London, United Kingdom Zinc Network Full time £40,000 - £80,000 per year

Introducing Zinc Network (Zinc):

For over fifteen years, Zinc Network has been helping clients navigate complex challenges at the intersection of security, technology, and behaviour change.

Working in partnership with a global network of media, communities, and influencers, we help clients understand the most complex issues, design behavioural interventions, create compelling campaigns, activate trusted grassroots networks, and evaluate impact.

That's what we do today for governments, NGOs, and private sector partners working on some of the toughest briefs: protecting children online, strengthening democratic resilience, and championing purpose-driven technologies and organisations.

We're now building Kora — our AI-powered platform that systematises this expertise into scalable technology, making interventions faster and more cost-effective whilst enabling clients and grassroots partners to design and deliver them independently.

The world is becoming increasingly complex — with accelerating technology, evolving security threats, and shifting geopolitical and economic dynamics. That's where you'll find Zinc: tackling the trickiest challenges where these forces collide and driving impact on the issues that matter most.

About the role:

Zinc Network is seeking freelance producers to join its talent pool. After approval to join the pool, you will be one of our go-to producers when we have relevant briefs on our exciting social-change projects around the world. As a Producer at Zinc, you will be responsible for finding and selecting stories and producing high-quality videos on different topics. This will include scripting the videos, finding contributors and archives, overseeing remote crews, working with animators and the edit team, and guiding them through the process.

You will oversee scheduling, ensuring that all production milestones are hit, and all assets are delivered on time and to a high editorial and creative standard. You will take responsibility for driving the project forward, working with our accounts, digital and project management teams to ensure the smooth delivery of the project. You do not need any shooting or directing skills.

As a video producer, you will have significant experience in the edit, and writing clear, attention-grabbing scripts. You will be a master of conveying complex information simply and concisely. You will be able to take complex research and turn it into compelling video ideas, identifying the most effective hooks for a story and suggesting creative and engaging treatments to appeal to our target audiences in different countries. You will know how to make a film stand out visually, and how to find great archive. You will have experience working with motion graphics and animation.

** For your application to be considered, please include samples of short social videos and other content that you have overseen and produced**

Key responsibilities:

·      Provide editorial and journalistic oversight of the project, ensuring work meets our editorial guidelines and ethical standards

·      Manage the creative workflow and oversee the work of the project's creative team

·      Find and select journalistic stories

·      Commission and edit long-form written content from our partners

·      Come up with creative ideas for videos and social content

·      Oversee the work of designers, animators, editors, and social content producers

·      Write powerful treatments that bring ideas to life and suggest innovative creative approaches to maximise the impact

·      Write engaging scripts with personality that convey complex information in a simple and clear manner

·      Take ownership of schedules for your projects

·      Ensure assets are delivered to a high quality and on time

·      Be able to produce and edit several short videos simultaneously

·      Ensure all edit scripts and other paperwork are kept up to date

·      Ensure scripts are accurate, rigorous, fact-checked, and strategically appropriate for the needs of our clients and partners

·      Participate in internal and client reviews, communicating creative vision and proposals effectively

·      Take feedback well and be prepared to revise your work to meet the needs of our clients, partners and internal stakeholders

  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Excellent understanding of social media platforms
  • Several years' experience in a journalistic role, ideally with editorial oversight of others
  • Several years' experience in video production, with numerous scripting, producing and editing producer credits

  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Positive and flexible 'can-do' attitude and willingness to solve problems
  • Ability to get on well with the team

·      Disclose any previous disciplinary action against them resulting from substantiated safeguarding (including any breaches involving trafficking-related activities) or workplace investigation.
