Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support an eight-year-old boy in a specialist provision in Sheffield S20. This is a LONG TERM ROLE, very possibly until July 2026 (starting in January).

You will be working MONDAYS, TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS in a lovely, small, supportive provision working 1:1 with a child who is NON-VERBAL. This position will be 5 hours per day 9:30-2:30, 15 hours per week.

Duties

  • Working 1:1 to support a young child who is NON VERBAL.
  • Help manage classroom activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all pupils

Qualifications

  • Experience with working with children who have limited communication is ESSENTIAL or experience with children with SEMH;
  • Understanding of working with young children with special educational needs
  • Strong SIMPLE communication skills to effectively interact with the child
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and organisational skills necessary for supporting diverse learners
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
