Our client is seeking an experienced contract/interim CTO as they commence a major technology transformation programme. The contract CTO will be engaged outside of IR35 to lead the strategic and technical delivery of a large-scale digital and data transformation. Fractional engagement may also be considered for the right profile of contractor.

The organisation is integrating multiple legacy systems, modernising its internal technology estate, and launching new customer-facing digital products. This includes a new SaaS platform designed to enhance customer experience and support commercial growth.

The Contract CTO will be responsible for defining the technology roadmap, driving delivery, and ensuring the transformation is executed at pace and with measurable outcomes to maximise ROI. Fractional engagement may also be considered for the right profile.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement a digital and data architecture strategy aligned to business goals.
  • Lead internal digital modernisation and integration programme across software, data, and infrastructure.
  • Establish a cohesive IT and digital operating model that supports future scale.
  • Oversee delivery of internal systems upgrades, data integration and the build of new customer-facing products, including a SaaS platform leveraging the organisation's existing data assets.
  • Provide a roadmap and technical leadership to a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Partner closely with the CEO and non-technical stakeholders to articulate ROI, shape strategic decisions, and ensure initiatives deliver clear commercial outcomes.

Key Experience

  • Proven track record delivering end-to-end digital transformation.
  • Strong technical breadth across software engineering, data platforms, cloud, and enterprise data integrations.
  • Demonstrable success building or scaling technology platforms that generate new revenue streams with ROI.
  • Background in structuring high-performing, multi-disciplinary technology teams.
  • Exceptional stakeholder skills, able to translate complex technology programmes into clear commercial value.
  • Ideally, experience operating in investor-backed, private equity, or growth environments.
