The Out of Hours Site Manager within Liverpool Women's will give the successful candidate the opportunity and challenge to be responsible for the overall running of the hospital out of hours as the first point of escalation in order to maintain safe staffing levels to support patient flow and to maintain safety and quality of care in wards and departments across the Trust.

If you have highly developed communication skills and are able to build relationships with operational managers and service users you will enjoy this complex and challenging role that will have many competing priorities and regular changes, driven by the changing levels of demand and areas of risk across the Trust.
The main job purpose is to provide out of hours support to ensure the overall coordination of flow is effectively managed across the Trust.
To succeed in this role you will need to be able to embody Trust values and the professional behaviours that underpin them and most importantly Be Kind.
Working in conjunction with on site operational clinical managers and on call managers supporting proactive coordination of bed capacity, in line with the Escalation Framework and escalating lack of capacity and breaches in order to support timely access to care.
To have an overall helicopter view of emergency driven targets, ensuring out of hours adherence to targets, by supporting divisions to review staffing and assess acuity and activity, reallocating staff to achieve these targets to ensure appropriate flow within the Trust.
Receiving and analysing information from daytime staff relating to staffing and acuity levels and provide independent clinical opinion to support effective care.
Being the first point of call to manage emergency incidents to ensure effective and immediate escalation, controls and communication protocols are invoked – eg fire, flood, loss of switchboard.
Ensuring all babies are appropriately tagged and respond to any baby tagging alarms during the shift.
Responding to medical emergencies/crash calls and any security emergencies, including absconding patients and have oversight of safeguarding issues within the Trust.
Liaising with ward staff and on call Estates team to determine urgency of request for out of hours attendance on site.
Providing information to the Estates & Facilities Department any areas of concern in relation to cleanliness and general upkeep of the environment.

This role requires an individual with relevant clinical experience and specialist knowledge in the management of risk.
The post holder will support clinical staff in an audit programme of high impact IPC intervention audits, to achieve compliance against ward/departments accreditation programmes ensuring results and areas of concern are escalated to the ward management team.
The post holder will be conversant with all policies relating to bed management / patient flow and be aware of monitoring systems that are in place and actions to be taken as necessary.
The post holder will have knowledge of the Trust and its profile and be conversant with national targets and its relevance with Bed Management / Patient Flow.
The post holder will deliver a high quality, safe, effective and efficient local service to meet the needs of patients, visitors and staff.
The post holder will seek to resolve and escalate breaches / capacity issues in order to support timely access to care.
The post holder will carry a bleep and act as the first point of contact in the escalation process, necessitating independent decision making and providing accurate and informed escalation and crisis management. They will address and manage the service within their scope of practice and escalate to the Trust on call Executive/Manager if required.
The post holder will respond to any internal/external complaints that require immediate support and management. They will respond within their scope of practice and report to the appropriate Manager/Team.
The post holder will respond to any press enquiries and direct such enquiries to either the Executive/Manager on call or the Trust Communications Manager.
The post holder will ensure that ward/department/community staffing/skill mix is appropriate and support escalation of shifts in response to sickness/absence and changes in patient dependency and acuity.
The post holder will promote, establish and maintain effective communication channels often working under extreme pressure and required to be directive, motivational, persuasive and often issuing challenge.
The post holder will support staff requiring access to mortuary, emergency drugs and blood products and will liaise with the in house blood courier to ensure all requirements are met.
The post holder will ensure that any barrier cleans required overnight are completed so as to avoid delays in bed availability and that they comply fully with IPC requirements.
The post holder will act as a professional role model, through commitment to the integration into practice of Trust policies and procedures (e.g. Uniform policy, No Smoking policy, etc.)
The post holder will demonstrate an overall awareness of safety and quality issues and a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
