Programme Overview

·2 year long programme spread across four 3-months long core placements throughout the first year, and a further 12 months in a specialised role within a department. ·Based in the head office in Birmingham for HQ roles, or across the London Northwestern and West Midlands Railway network for frontline positions depending on the placement. ·Opportunities for short mini secondments with other departments or even with other industry partners could be arranged. ·We offer a truly flexible graduate scheme whereby after the first 6 months of the programme, graduates will be able to select which departments they want to venture into for their 3rd and 4th placements. ·Extensive graduate support network including placement line manager, a graduate buddy, a senior manager as a mentor, and the graduate programme manager will ensure you are fully supported throughout.

Programme Structure

The programme commences in September 2026 with a week-long onboarding process to include company induction, overview of key departments, as well as insight into the operation of one of our stations to allow graduates to experience a day in the life of a passenger.

Each graduate will be assigned a senior manager who will act as a mentor for the duration of programme. They will have mentoring sessions with the graduate and help set overall goals, training and development opportunities, as well as discuss the aspirations beyond the graduate scheme.

Graduates will be paired with a buddy who will assist with acclimatising to the London Northwestern & West Midlands Railway business as well as assist with general queries.

Line managers for each of the 4 placements will set placement objectives, plan work and training opportunities within the placement itself.

The second year will see the graduate specialise in a role and will be assigned to a fixed department.
