RNC is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic cover teacher with experience of working in a Specialist or SEN setting.

Are you passionate about education and ready to make a difference in students' lives—even at short notice?

We're looking for adaptable, enthusiastic cover teachers to join our team and support the delivery of lessons for learners on the Skills for Life Curriculum at RNC within: Functional Skills and BTEC Level 1 courses.

Job Purpose

To provide high-quality cover teaching that ensures continuity of learning for students during staff absences. You'll play a vital role in maintaining progress and motivation, helping students stay on track with their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging lessons based on cover work set by subject teachers or planning provided by curriculum leads.
  • Support students in achieving short-term learning objectives, maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to share relevant student information and ensure continuity of care.
  • Embed Functional English, ICT, and RNC Key Skills into lessons where appropriate.
  • Promote and evidence Fundamental British Values and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
  • Uphold Health & Safety and Safeguarding standards in line with college policies.
  • Participate in CPD and staff development activities to enhance your teaching practice.
  • Model respectful behaviour and challenge unacceptable conduct across campus.

  • Experience in teaching or delivering educational content.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • A flexible, proactive approach to working across different subject areas.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
