We're looking for a
Lead Engineer
with a passion for building high-quality, user-centric mobile experiences to drive the development and evolution of the mobile app, a React Native application available on both iOS and Android.
As a Lead Engineer, you'll be a pivotal member of our customer acquisition and retention (A&R) development team, taking ownership of the mobile app. This role goes beyond just coding; you'll be instrumental in shaping the app's future, ensuring its stability, and leading the implementation of innovative features that support our multi-channel communication goals, including advanced push notifications and deep-linking.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the technical design and implementation of new features, writing clean, efficient, and well-tested code.
- Collaborating closely with UX/UI designers to translate design concepts into seamless and intuitive user interfaces, providing expert guidance on mobile best practices.
- Championing code quality and robust testing strategies across the team to ensure reliable and performant app releases.
- Overseeing the end-to-end release process, including managing submissions and reviews with Apple and Google.
- Partnering with backend engineers to define and evolve APIs, ensuring seamless integration between the app and backend services.
- Mentoring and guiding other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement within the team.
- Data Driven Utilise rich logs, metrics, and data to monitor and improve system performance & reliability
What We Look For In You
- Extensive hands-on experience with React Native, demonstrated by successfully building and launching complex applications for both iOS and Android.
- Proven track record of managing and releasing applications on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
- Deep understanding of mobile platform best practices and the nuances between iOS and Android development.
- Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, effectively prioritising tasks, and managing your time in a dynamic, small team environment.
- Strong leadership with a desire to guide and influence technical direction.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Deep knowledge of Expo (React Native framework).
- Previous experience of building and releasing apps on Expo Application Services (EAS) including utilising over-the-air updates for faster delivery.
- Demonstrable experience building branded component libraries with tools like Tailwind CSS and gluestack.
- Familiarity with automation tools like Detox/ Appium/ Browserstack experience for streamlining build and release processes.
- Experience with mobile analytics and engagement platforms such as AppsFlyer or Braze.
