Job description

Crookesbroom Primary Academy are looking to appoint an Assistant Principal to join our academy in April 2026 on a full time, permanent basis.

We are delighted to offer a rare opportunity for a senior leader with class teacher responsibility to join the welcoming and talented team at Crookesbroom Primary Academy. Crookesbroom is a part of Delta Academies Trust, so benefits from a wealth of shared expertise and support from its many academies and leaders. Crookesbroom itself is a high-performing school with beautifully behaved children; the academy continually sets very high standards and achieves excellent outcomes for its children so much so that Crookesbroom was named as the #1 school in South Yorkshire for 2025. Crookesbroom is a nurturing, inclusive school that promotes the development of the whole child through an extensive personal development program and embracing the Thrive approach through highly skilled and trained staff.

We are looking for a dynamic, passionate and skilled teacher and leader to join our team as Assistant Principal with teaching responsibility. The Assistant Principal will play a key role in continuing to drive standards at Crookesbroom; working closely with the Head of Academy and Executive Principal, the Assistant Principal will form a key part of the leadership of the school, including developing teaching and learning and using data effectively to drive progress.

Your new school

With 229 pupils aged between 5 and 11, Crookesbroom is a busy and vibrant place. We serve the villages of Hatfield, Stainforth and Dunsville. We are a small academy, and we pride ourselves on knowing our students well and doing our best to ensure everyone fulfils their potential. We place great importance on the development of each and every child both academically and socially and emotionally. We aim to provide a wide range of learning experiences both within the classroom and beyond which will promote a life long love of learning and enable our children to become independent, forward thinking and socially responsible citizens of the future.

Your new role

As an Assistant Principal, you will form part of the Senior Leadership Team and you will deputise for the Head of Academy in their absence. You will provide proactive support to the Head of Academy, Executive Principal and AAB members to ensure the leadership and management of the academy operates effectively. Your role will be to lead, firstly as a highly effective classroom practitioner that will model outstanding practice as well as undertaking monitoring of the provision, inclusion and achievement for all pupils.

Why join our academy?

Our staff are talented and enthusiastic and have all contributed to the academy's success story. All of our staff have access to a staff benefits scheme. At Crookesbroom, we value the continuous professional development of all our employees and recognise that our staff and students are most successful when they feel happy, valued, challenged and supported to achieve their very best.
