Overview

We're currently looking for Hydraulic Fitters / Mechanical Fitters to working on a workover rig located in a yard in Blackburn, Aberdeen.

Duties

  • Assemble, install, and maintain hydraulic systems and components on workover rigs.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair hydraulic pumps, cylinders, motors, and control valves.
  • Perform pressure testing, fault finding, and system troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
  • Replace worn or damaged hoses, fittings, and seals in accordance with maintenance schedules.
  • Interpret hydraulic schematics and technical drawings to identify faults and carry out repairs.
  • Support rig-up and rig-down operations by ensuring all hydraulic systems are operational and safe.
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on hydraulic power units and control systems.
  • Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and equipment reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations during all maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams to resolve multi-discipline technical issues.
  • Participate in toolbox talks and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, circuits, and components.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting hydraulic schematics and technical drawings.
  • Skilled in fault finding, diagnostics, and pressure testing of hydraulic equipment.
  • Competence in assembling, installing, and maintaining hydraulic power units and control valves.
  • Experience with hose fabrication, fitting replacement, and leak detection.
  • Understanding of rig hydraulics, including jacking systems, catwalks, and power tongs.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and hydraulic test equipment.
  • Sound mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability.
  • Familiarity with maintenance documentation and reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and hazard identification in oilfield operations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team within high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with multi-discipline crews.
  • Commitment to quality workmanship and preventive maintenance practices.
