About the Role
The Department of Computer Science at Oxford University is looking for a talented Internal Communications and Events officer to inspire and nurture engagement with internal and external audiences, supporting and showcasing the department's world-leading teaching and research.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your creative, planning and analytical skills across a range of communications activities. You'll make a real difference in a department that's home to some of the University's most exciting research and innovation, from AI to cybersecurity, quantum and human centred computing.
We're looking for an accomplished multi-channel communicator with excellent writing, digital and events skills, confident working with stakeholders at all levels and motivated by creating engaging communications that connect people with our department.
Reflecting University guidance on internal mobility, internal candidates will be considered a priority, however external candidates are welcomed and valued.
About You
Working as part of a friendly, motivated team you'll play a key role in delivering the department's communications strategy, supporting a culture of inclusion and collaboration, and championing the department's global reputation for excellence.
You'll plan, write and edit content for internal newsletters, intranet, and promotional materials; plan engagement activities; and work with colleagues at all levels to ensure our messages are strategic, consistent and engaging.
About Us
The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment, which enjoys an international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.
The Department of Computer Science at Oxford is renowned for pioneering research and teaching across diverse fields, consistently ranking among the best in the world. Our commitment to innovation drives us to tackle complex technological and societal challenges.
What We Offer
As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees' wellbeing, reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:
Excellent contributory pension scheme
38 days annual leave (including public holidays) – pro rata for part time jobs
Family leave schemes
Cycle loan scheme and discounted public transport
Diversity
Committed to equality and valuing diversity.
Application Process
You will be required to upload a supporting statement and an up-to-date CV as part of your online application.
Your supporting statement must clearly demonstrate how you meet each of the essential selection criteria listed in the job description. Applications that do not include a supporting statement or CV, or fail to address the criteria in sufficient detail, will not be considered.
You must already have the right to work in the UK at the time of application. We are unable to sponsor visas for this post.
While we recognise the value of AI tools in assisting with application preparation, submissions that are clearly AI-generated without personalisation or insight will be rejected. It's crucial that your application reflects your own experiences and understanding of the role.
