Gloucester, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom EDF UK Full time
Job Description

Gloucester Business Park, Gloucester, Atlantic Quays, Glasgow, Hybrid, minimum of 2 days a week in office.

Are you an experienced Civils Engineer looking for the next step in your career? With knowledge and skills in Design, and excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills? Are you the type of person who likes a fast-paced environment and likes to be challenged?

The Opportunity

At EDF UK, we're offering an exciting opportunity for a Civils Structural Engineer to join our Nuclear Services team. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering world-class technical services across the entire nuclear lifecycle, from design to delivery.

You'll collaborate with technical directorates and project teams, influencing key decisions and ensuring the integrity of nuclear classified structures. This role offers the chance to work on high-profile projects such as Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and other nuclear generation initiatives.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a salary starting from £60,000, depending on experience, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We're talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone's welcome. We're on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We'd like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We're a disability confident employer and we'll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That's why we support you to pursue a career that's unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you'll be doing

As a Civils Structural Engineer, you'll lead and manage technical activities to ensure nuclear safety and compliance across a range of projects. You'll be the go-to expert for your scope, drawing on the support of a collaborative and experienced team.

You'll be at the forefront of civil design and construction for Hinkley Point C, contribute to the ramp-up of Sizewell C, and support life extension projects for our existing nuclear fleet. Your work will directly impact Britain's journey to #CarbonNetZero.

This is a role where your expertise will shape the future of nuclear energy, offering both challenge and reward in equal measure.

Who you are

You'll bring experience as a Civil or Structural Engineer, with a strong background in designing or reviewing reinforced concrete and steelwork structures in line with Eurocodes or equivalent standards. You're confident in leading integrated technical solutions and managing governance and stakeholders effectively.

Ideally, you're chartered or on the path to becoming chartered and have worked on complex projects in regulated industries. While nuclear experience is a plus, it's not essential. Your knowledge of seismic design, US codes, finite element analysis, and CDM 2015 will be highly valued.

You're a great communicator, comfortable working with diverse teams and regulatory bodies.

If this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you

Closing date for applications: 11th November 2025
