MDA's international footprint in the UK creates opportunities to work with some of the most exciting space industrial players in the country. Delivering all three business area capabilities in Geointelligence, Robotics & Space Operations, and Satellite Systems, our UK team provides support to our European-based customers while specializing in the development of advanced space sensors for exploration missions as well as space-based communication technology. As our presence grows overseas, so does our need for new ambitious team players to help us advance our place in the Universe and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of engineers developing GEO FPGA/ ASIC based satellite telecommunication payloads
- Responsible throughout the Hardware product development lifecycle for the specification, design and testing
- Detailed circuit design including schematic capture, component selection and electronic simulation
- Engineering analysis and documentation (Derating, Worst Case, Reliability, Radiation, EMI/EMC Analysis, FMECA, Power Budget)
- Supporting Hardware/Software/System integration, test, validation and qualification
- Directing in-house and 3rd party PCB layout design teams
- Deliver prototype and product quality manufacturing packages
Required Skills And Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree or higher in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline
- 5+ years' experience in a hardware product design role, in the Space or an equivalent High Reliability sector
- Design of complex, high speed circuits implemented as high density, multi-layer (10+) PCBs
- Experience of circuit and PCB design and simulation tools
Specialist knowledge in any of the following areas would be advantageous:
High reliability design and analysis (Space, Military, Automotive, etc.)
- RF design and validation
- Knowledge of high speed digital design and Serdes interconnects
- Knowledge of LEO/GEO communications payload
- Electronic circuitry radiation effects and mitigation techniques
- DC/DC power supply design
- Knowledge of environmental, thermal, safety and EMI/EMC standards
- Practical use of scripting languages Tcl/Python/Perl etc.
