PING Europe, based in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, assembles and distributes golf equipment to the UK, Ireland, Europe, Iceland, South Africa and the Middle East. The European headquarters employs over 250 people in a range of different functions, including manufacturing, operations, marketing, sales and finance. The company also has an apparel design office, based in Cheadle, Cheshire, and is the proprietor of Thonock Park Golf Club, also in Gainsborough.

An exciting role has become available as Health, Safety and Compliance Manager, based at Ping Europe's headquarters in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. The Health, Safety and Compliance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health, safety and regulatory standards across all of Ping Europe's locations. The role will work particularly closely with the Operations team at our assembly facility, where there is importance on finding practical, pragmatic solutions.

This role has responsibility of ensuring that all company activities are conducted in a safe and legally compliant manner, while maintaining a strong culture of safety, operational excellence, wellbeing and continuous improvement across the organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Health and Safety Management

• Develop, implement and maintain the company's Health and Safety Management System in accordance with all relevant regulations and legislation.

• Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments and safety audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

• Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses — determine root causes and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions.

• Ensure that accurate records of incidents, training, inspections and risk assessments are maintained.

• Lead in emergency preparedness and response planning, including drills, evacuation plans and spill response.

• Maintain safety documentation and ensure accurate reporting of all safety incidents.

• Provide expert advice to managers and employees on all H&S matters.

Compliance and Regulatory Oversight

• Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant occupational health, safety and environmental legislation, including regulatory requirements for manufacturing operations.

• Liaise with enforcement agencies (e.g., HSE, EPA, Fire Authorities) during inspections and audits.

• Keep abreast of legislative updates and communicate changes to senior management and staff.

• Develop, maintain and update compliance policies, permits and safety management procedures to ensure continuous compliance.

Training and Workforce Engagement

• Design and deliver Health and Safety training tailored to manufacturing environments, such as manual handling, confined spaces, machine operation and PPE usage.

• Promote a proactive safety culture through awareness campaigns, toolbox talks and engagement initiatives.

• Support managers in ensuring that employees are competent and trained for their roles.

• Support team leaders and supervisors in conducting local safety briefings and risk assessments.

Reporting and Documentation

• Maintain and control all relevant records in line with statutory regulations and legislation.

• Ensure that KPIs are completed to record all near misses and accident rates.

• Analyse safety performance data and develop strategies to reduce incident rates and improve compliance.

• Prepare monthly safety performance and compliance reports for the senior leadership team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Have a minimum five years' experience managing health, safety and compliance within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

• Have proven experience conducting incident investigations, audits and regulatory reporting.

• Demonstrate a strong understanding of compliance management systems and auditing processes.

• Due to various geographical locations, a driving licence is necessary.

• A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Risk Management, or similar related discipline is desirable.

• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) is essential; Chartered Membership of IOSH is preferred.

SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALITIES

• A strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and best practices.

• A strong knowledge of manufacturing safety standards, including machinery, electrical and process safety.

• Have an ability to influence and promote a culture of safety and accountability at all levels.

• Be an excellent problem-solver and have the ability to make the right decision.

• Have excellent communication, both verbal and written.

• Have a high attention to detail and organisational skills, along with the ability to multi-task.
