Responsible for:
Creating and reviewing Electrical drawings and schematics
Developing detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment and tooling.
Producing accurate manufacturing drawings maintaining a high standard of quality.
Ensure good drawing and document control ensuring accurate engineering information is created.
Supporting inhouse manufacture with Nesting of laser component design onto raw material sheets to minimise waste and maximise efficiency at times of annual leave or high throughput.
Actively support the design team targets and workload, with the focus on achieving the Company's business planned turnover and profit targets.
Competence & Qualifications:
Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Proficiency in CAD software (such as Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar) for designing mechatronic systems.
Familiarity with electrical components, including sensors, actuators, PLCs, microcontrollers, and embedded systems.
Solid understanding of both electrical and mechanical design principles and their application in industry.
Familiarity with PLC programming and control systems.
Hands on experience with hardware integration and testing of Electrical control systems.
Demonstratable understanding of CAD design principles and processes.
Ability to produce accurate engineering drawings to BS8888 standard with minimal guidance.
Auto Cad 2D, Inventor 3D, Vault, iLogic
Microsoft Office suite
Key Duties:
- Assist Design Team member in creating accurate Electrical schematics and line diagrams.
- Conduct review of new electrical drawings for both Hydro Products and Project schematics. This will include any which have been approved through the Change Request system.
- Assist Design Team members in creating accurate 2D and 3D CAD models, mechanical technical drawings, and designs using Autodesk Inventor.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other team members to understand project requirements and contribute to the development of the design team.
- Perform design modifications and revisions under the guidance of other team members following internal processes and procedures.
- Support the generation of bills of materials (BOMs) and production drawings for manufacturing purposes.
- Conduct quality checks on CAD models and drawings to ensure accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
- Maintain organised files and documentation of CAD models, drawings, and revisions.
- Learn and apply industry standards, codes, and regulations relevant to both electrical and mechanical design.
- Actively participate in team meetings, providing ideas and suggestions to improve design team processes.
- Ensure that work is carried out on time and within budget.
- Ensure that work is carried out to a high standard and in compliance with statutory Health & Safety requirements, Client Specifications Company Specifications Design Risk Assessments and CDM.
- Ensure that timesheets are completed on a weekly basis in an accurate and legible form to facilitate accurate record keeping.
- To ensure that all electronic drawing and document files are stored in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Assistance where directed, with the development and improvement of standard product designs.
- The checking of designs and drawings where directed and in line with the departmental checking procedure.
- To ensure that all activities undertaken are carried out in a professional manner and are in accordance with company and departmental working procedures and directives.
- To ensure that all designs and drawings produced are cost effective, fit for purpose and enable the maximum use of readily available materials and fabrication methods.
- To ensure that all designs and drawings produced are in accordance with all relevant specifications and standards.
- To make site installation visits when instructed by the line manager.
