We are looking for a dedicated Early Years Practitioner to join our team at Heron House Early Years Crookston. This role will support children aged 0–5 years, providing high-quality care and education in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children ages 0-5 years, a passion for early years education, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Duties

  • Support and care for children aged 0–5, ensuring their wellbeing, safety, and development
  • Plan and deliver engaging activities that promote learning through play, creativity, and outdoor experiences
  • Observe, assess, and record children's progress, contributing to individual development plans
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates on their children's progress
  • Ensure compliance with the setting's policies, procedures, and health and safety standards
  • Foster a love of exploration, creativity, and outdoor learning in all children
  • Support the continuous improvement of the nursery through sharing ideas and participating in initiatives

Skills and Qualities

  • Experience working with children aged 0–5, particularly under 3, is essential
  • Knowledge of early years principles and child development
  • Patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach to care
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and also use own initiative
  • Creativity and passion for engaging children in play-based learning
  • Commitment to promoting outdoor learning and exploration
  • Proactive, reliable, and flexible
