After 15 years, our Co-Founder and Artistic Director, Kate Whitley, will step down in early 2026. This marks an important and carefully planned transition for the organisation. With a new Executive Director being recruited concurrently, the Artistic Director will have a unique opportunity to forge Multi-Story's future.
Since 2011, we've pioneered youth-led orchestral music that challenges conventions, tells urgent real-life stories, and amplifies unheard voices. Today, young people aged 14-18 are at the heart of our creative process, working with professional musicians to create original works across a range of genres, from soul and R&B to classical and choral. The result is music that's fresh, relevant and powerful.

The Artistic Director will work in close partnership with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees to set the organisation's artistic vision, extend our partnerships, fulfil commitments to funders, and ensure Multi-Story Orchestra thrives in its next phase. The Artistic Director and the Executive Director together fulfil the CEO function for Multi-Story Orchestra.

Permanent, 0.8 FTE (with the possibility of full-time for the right candidate).

Working Pattern:
We typically work Tuesday-Thursday in the office and value face-to-face collaboration. We are open to discussions about flexible and compressed hours (core hours of 10am-4pm are being piloted). Some evening and weekend hours are required, with time off in lieu.
Holiday:
28 days per year, plus bank holidays, pro rata
Pension:
Enrolment into the Nest pension scheme
