Role Overview

The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting IT infrastructure across cloud, DevOps, and on-premises environments. This role directly impacts service reliability, scalability, and security, requiring strong technical skills, independent and collaborative working, and proactive problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

Azure (Cloud) Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including virtual networks, VMs, and platform services.
  • Support and optimize cloud-based storage solutions (Azure Blob, Azure Files) and cloud identity (Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD).
  • Implement cloud networking components—secure VPNs, firewalls, and load balancers within Azure environments.
  • Manage and test cloud backup strategies, disaster recovery, and business continuity for cloud-hosted data and applications.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Azure infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance of cloud resources.
  • Develop and maintain cloud automation and Infrastructure as Code using tools (ARM templates, Terraform, PowerShell).
  • Collaborate on Azure migrations, hybrid integration, and cloud optimization efforts.
  • Maintain cloud infrastructure documentation and compliance with security/regulatory best practices.
  • Recommend and implement enhancements with emerging Azure technologies.
  • Azure certification preferred.

DevOps Responsibilities

  • Build, automate, and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and other toolsets.
  • Automate deployment, configuration, and monitoring of infrastructure using scripting and configuration management.
  • Integrate security and compliance checks in DevOps workflows.
  • Support collaborative efforts with software, security, and support teams for end-to-end infrastructure delivery.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues impacting build, deployment, and service uptime.
  • Contribute to environment automation and process documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date on DevOps technologies and best practices.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, ARM, etc.) and scripting (PowerShell).

On-Premises & Traditional Infrastructure Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain physical and virtual server infrastructure (on-premises and private cloud).
  • Administer Windows-based operating systems and VMware virtualization platforms.
  • Manage traditional networking: LAN, WAN, firewalls, load balancers, and VoIP/cloud telephony solutions.
  • Implement backup/disaster recovery/business continuity for on-premises systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents to minimize downtime and disruption.
  • Maintain infrastructure topology and process documentation.
  • Ensure security best practices are followed, including integration with products like CrowdStrike, Darktrace, Carbon Black.
  • Collaborate across IT teams and departments for integrated support and projects.

Key Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years' experience across cloud, DevOps, and on-prem infrastructure.
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Azure and AWS services.
  • Practical Windows OS and VMware skills.
  • PowerShell scripting ability.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline development in Azure DevOps.
  • Background in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/ARM).
  • Familiarity with identity/security products (Entra ID, CrowdStrike, Darktrace, Carbon Black).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaborative abilities.
  • Up-to-date documentation and commitment to security/compliance
