Quality Engineer / Inspector – Aerospace

Are you a detail-driven Quality Engineer with aerospace experience, looking to take ownership of FAIR compilation and quality compliance in a high-performing environment?

Our client are seeking a
Quality Engineer
/ Inspector
to join their team and play a key role in ensuring our products meet the highest standards for our aerospace customers. This is an exciting opportunity to lead FAIR processes, support audits, and contribute to our zero-defect culture.

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Our client, a leader in innovative engineering solutions, is committed to excellence and delivering high-quality, cost-effective products that meet stringent standards. The Engineering department is at the forefront of this mission, and they are seeking an experienced and passionate Engineering Manager to lead this team to new heights.

COMPANY USP

  • Ultra-tight tolerance and complexity
  • They manufacture very high-complexity components for aero-engine, power generation, and airframe applications, often on legacy programmes.
  • Long heritage + experience
  • Founded in 1938; decades of working with challenging engineering tasks and legacy systems.
  • Comprehensive capability & special processes in-house
  • Their capabilities include machining (turning, milling, grinding), non-destructive testing (NDT), heat treatment, pressure testing, special cleaning, etc. Having these special processes in house gives more control, shorter lead times, and quality consistency.
  • Legacy spares / reverse engineering
  • They support legacy engine programmes — meaning when parts are no longer in production, Broadway works to reverse engineer or replicate them using modern techniques.

JOB PURPOSE

  • Lead the
    end-to-end compilation of FAIRs
(First Article Inspection Reports), ensuring compliance with
    AS9102
    and customer-specific standards (e.g., Rolls-Royce SABRe4).
  • Gather, verify, and manage documentation, inspection results, and material certifications.
  • Submit FAIRs through customer portals (e.g., Rolls-Royce RRES system) and handle feedback or rejections.
  • Work closely with
    engineering, production, inspection, and suppliers
to validate and improve quality processes.
  • Develop and maintain
    PPAP documentation
(control plans, PFMEAs, MSAs, capability reports, balloon drawings).
  • Lead problem-solving investigations using
    8D, 5 Whys
    and other quality tools.
  • Support internal and external audits, acting as the
    point of contact
for customers and suppliers on quality matters.
  • Train and mentor colleagues on FAIR and quality best practices.
  • Champion our
    zero-defect methodology
    and continuous improvement initiatives.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Apprenticeship or HNC in Engineering, Quality, or related discipline.
  • Solid knowledge of
    manufacturing and quality management systems
    .
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with
    SPC, FAIRs or 5s, 6s, 8d problem-solving techniques
    .
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
  • 3+ years in a quality engineering role within the
    aerospace industry
    .
  • Proven experience compiling and submitting
FAIRs for Rolls-Royce and other OEMs
