Job Title: BIM & Revit Modelling Engineer Submarines

Working location: Raynesway, Derby  

We are recruiting for a BIM engineer to join our growing team. This role is to:
1. provide day to day maintenance, upkeep and management of 2D Infrastructure drawings and 3D BIM models for the Raynesway estate to ensure timely and accurate delivery of drawings to meet statutory and regulatory requirements, whilst also providing the business and key stakeholders with safe, accurate information to support decision making.
2. Provide day to day maintenance, upkeep and management of specific drawing sets linked to ONR License conditions 2 & 16 and drawings that have a direct impact on Nuclear safety.

What you will be doing: 

To provide day to day maintenance, upkeep and management of 2D Infrastructure drawings and 3D BIM models for the Raynesway estate, to ensure timely and accurate delivery of drawings to meet statutory and regulatory requirements, whilst also providing the business and key stakeholders with safe, accurate information to support decision making. Whilst providing day to day maintenance, upkeep and management of specific drawing sets linked to ONR License conditions 2 & 16 and drawings that have a direct impact on Nuclear safety.

  • Upkeep and production of drawing information for the Raynesway estate.
  • Upkeep and production of Building Information Models for the Raynesway Estate.
  • Production and upkeep of Laser scan point cloud surveys.
  • Support the development and introduction of new digital processes such as BIM and other technologies to introduce simplification, improvements and efficiencies.
  • Support in the production of concept drawings and models for projects.
  • Development and upkeep of Drawing and information production / management standards inline with industry.
  • Define, CAD/BIM strategies and standards in key areas of capability in conjunction with internal and industry stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support to the wider drawing team to ensure a coherent approach to the production of building and facility infrastructure drawings.
  • Maintain and develops technical knowledge in own subject area beyond the confines of Rolls-Royce.
  • Maintain and develops a depth and breadth of knowledge in a specialist area and an understanding of related areas.
  • Support regular reviews of procedures to ensure that internal drawing capability remains up to date including the identification investments in software and hardware.
  • Act as the client side intermediary between designers, clients and architects so that projects remain efficient and effective. Coordinating with supply chain BIM professionals, who are responsible for producing project information models 

Who we're looking for:

  • Proficient in the use of Autodesk drawing and modelling software's such as AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Practical experience carrying out laser scanning and understanding of scan to BIM processes.
  • Experience using clash detection and model validation software's such as Solibri.
  • Experienced in construction and infrastructure related drawing production.
  • Ideally hold certification in building information modelling.
  • A good working knowledge of AutoCAD/AutoCAD Fabrication/Unigraphics/NX and Revit MEP along with other packages such as Navisworks and MS Office suite. Including understanding of the development of 2D drawings from 3D Models.
  • Experience in production of drawings, methods and tools used to store and manage drawings and associated information.
  • Familiarisation with latest related Euro Codes, British Standards, Codes of Practice and Guidance Documents. 
  • Understanding of Company Quality policies and processes deployed within the resource group.
  • Demonstrates ability to coach people in order to support skill development.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance.  Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place.
