Who are Physis Academy.

We are a specialist Independent School based in North Shropshire, providing education for pupils aged 11-18, who are at risk or have experienced sexual exploitation, or who have low mood and anxiety. The school currently has 14 pupils on roll but has been granted DfE and Ofsted permission to increase numbers to a maximum of 45 pupils over time.

The school is rated Good by Ofsted "The school's therapeutic programme dovetails well with the academic curriculum. It helps pupils to make sense of their emotions and understand their past experiences. This in turn helps to improve their self-esteem. Parents and carers value the difference that the school make to the pupils' lives. One parent described the school's work with her daughter as 'life changing.' [Ofsted Nov 2023].

The school delivers individualised educational provision to students who require high levels of understanding, consistency and continuity through an integrated therapeutic approach. Our pupils are intelligent and make rapid progress in numerous qualifications when they trust the adults around them who ignite their passion for learning in creative ways.

However, sometimes they struggle to remain motivated, or need a little help to process the other aspects of their lives and this is where the pastoral manager is crucial to their positive school experience. Are you that person?

  • To lead pastoral meetings to ensure accurately and timely communication of pupils' circumstances to the education team.
  • To know, understand, and role model Physis' therapeutic approach, and at all times to work within Physis' expectations to be a positive ambassador for the children and young people.
