Job Description SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Power Systems Studies Application Engineer to perform advanced analysis and modeling of electrical power systems. This role involves conducting a wide range of studies to support grid planning, interconnection, system reliability, future site capacity proofing for industrial and oil and gas segments as well as integration of renewable energy and storage technologies.Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:
  • Perform power system studies including:
    • Load flow (steady-state),
    • Short circuit and fault analysis,
    • Transient and dynamic stability,
    • Protection coordination,
    • Harmonic analysis,
    • Arc flash assessments.
  • Develop and validate power system models for industrial and oil and gas projects.
  • Support interconnection studies for renewable energy projects, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and distributed energy resources (DERs).
  • Analyze grid code compliance and provide technical input for regulatory filings and utility coordination.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with project teams, utilities, and regulatory bodies to ensure study deliverables meet project and compliance requirements.
  • Stay current with evolving industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NERC, ENTSO-E) and emerging technologies.
  • Coordinating with colleagues in the UK, France, Germany, USA and India with regards to general procedures and guidelines.
  • 20% of work time may consist of domestic and occasional international travel for technical meetings, site visits and customer visits; both independently and as a member of a wider team.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
  • Experience in power system analysis or grid studies.
  • Proficiency with one or more power system simulation tools (e.g., PSSE, PowerFactory, PSCAD, ETAP).
  • Strong understanding of transmission and distribution system operations and planning.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy integration, inverter-based resources, and grid codes.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
This role involves work for customers who manage critical infrastructure; based on customer requirements it will be necessary to carry out background checks and suitability assessments (UK BPSS clearance OR UK SC clearance) as part of the hiring process.
