About The Role
The Assistant Tax Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all tax aspects of Welltower's UK portfolio. The Assistant Tax Manager will also be responsible for strategically working with internal stakeholders and external third parties with an emphasis on ensuring continued compliance with all UK tax reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of tax workpapers and tax returns to ensure accurate and timely income tax return compliance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for responding to tax authority notices and inquiries, demonstrating expertise in tax regulations and requirements.
- Take ownership of REIT and partnership tax reporting, ensuring full compliance with all requirements.
- Manage the preparation of estimated tax payments, compute taxes due, and oversee reporting processes.
- Ensure compliance with other direct and indirect tax requirements as needed, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of regulatory changes.
- Spearhead the preparation of the UK tax provision for the consolidated, ensuring accuracy and adherence to ASC 740.
- Take responsibility for capital allowance and transfer pricing reviews, in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support in compliance with BRR+ reviews and Systems and Governance audits.
- Proactively engage in additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the team's success.

Minimum Requirements
- This is a 100% office-based role in Central London.
- 4-6 years of real estate or partnership tax experience. Experience working with multiple legal entities in an M&A environment is highly preferred. Healthcare real estate asset experience helpful but not required.
- ACA, ACCA, CTA, or a similar professional qualification required.
- Real estate taxation knowledge, in particular the UK REIT regime and partnership taxation is strongly preferred
- Strong proficiency in Workflow software and MS Excel.
- Experience of VAT and the Construction Industry Scheme is desirable
- Good working knowledge of accounting and general ledger systems
- Working knowledge of accounting and general ledger systems.
- Basic understanding of tax principles and/or real estate taxation is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in client-facing situations.
