Glasgow, Glasgow City, United Kingdom University of Strathclyde Full time £37,794 - £46,249 per year
Salary range: £37,694 - £46,049 per annum

FTE: 1 (35 hours/week)

Term: Open-ended

Closing Date: 17 November 2025

Location: Inchinnan, Renfrew

We are looking to recruit an Electrical Technician with expertise in the professional engineering arena and put those skills to practical use to deliver testing programmes in a safe and cost-effective manner. Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be involved in the design, planning and implementation of projects, ensuring a safe environment is provided and maintained throughout. You will be required to investigate and resolve electrical issues and there will also be some mechanical works too.

You will assist in leading maintenance activities for all electrical infrastructure, plant, communications and instrumentation systems, implementing procedures relevant to their safe operation & maintenance. You will also carry out surveys and inspections, preparing bills of material cost estimates.

To be considered for this role, you will be educated to a minimum of HNC / HND level in an electrical/electronic discipline, or equivalent, or have significant relevant experience. You will have an appreciation of HV systems and a good knowledge of LV systems, protection, and communications systems, planned maintenance, electrical services and current health and safety legislation.

You must be able to communicate effectively and be able to interact with a variety of stakeholders, including colleagues and external industrial/international organisations. You will work in a dynamic environment, with changing priorities and collaborators, and so effective teamwork is essential. The post will be based at the new PNDC facility in the University's Advanced Net Zero Innovation Centre (ANZIC) with the potential to support PNDC's long established facility at Cumbernauld.

As a valued member of the technical team, you will receive training and work towards obtaining LV authorisation quickly, with the opportunity to work towards HV authorisation in the future.
