Volunteer Seeking Career Mentors in Arts and Creative Industries for University Students and Graduates

Are you a creative professional? would you like to pass on your knowledge/experience to a university student interested in taking the next step in their career journey? We are looking for mentors to help students develop key employability skills.

What are we looking for?
The School of Art and Creative Industries is looking for candidates with skills and experience in the following subject areas Fashion design Videography and/or film Game industry and/or games design Music and/or Media production Theatre roles and performing arts Journalism Animation Graphic design
What will you be doing?
The University's Mentoring offer provides the opportunity for employed, self-employed, retired and other experienced creative professionals to support, guide and inspire current students and recent graduates with two distinct programmes Power Hour A one-off, one-hour session to provide tailored guidance to soon-to-be graduates. Career Mentoring A 4-month long mentoring relationship designed to support students with developing their career readiness. This programme runs twice in the academic year. As a Mentor, you will support your mentee with their goals, which may include Developing their interpersonal and employability skills Supporting their understanding of the link between academic studies and career aspirations Exploring career pathways and help them plan their career goals Improving confidence and self-esteem Developing professional networks Role requirements Willingness to share knowledge Positive attitude Honest Constructive Empathetic Unbiased and objective Benefits of being a Mentor Develop your skills e.g. coaching skills Get involved with the University of East London Support and inspire future talent Evidence your continued professional development with a certificate How it works Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a quick chat with a Mentoring Officer following which successful applicants will be required to attend a virtual training session and the onboarding process will begin.
