Senior QA Engineer

The Senior QA Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of FGH's digital platforms and internal systems. The role spans both customer facing initiatives, primarily in the context of our eCommerce digital platform, and broader technology programmes.

Combining deep manual testing expertise with informal leadership responsibilities, the Senior QA contributes to test strategy, mentors junior team members, and drives continuous improvement across Agile delivery teams. Automation experience is strongly preferred but not essential.

The Role Involves

• Working collaboratively with software engineers, digital experience owners, UX designers and business change managers to define test strategies and plans and to manage and execute testing
• Ensuring adherence to and advocating for industry best practice test frameworks, methodologies and tools to enhance testing efficiency and effectiveness

About The Role

• Defining, implementing and maintaining test strategies for FGH project initiatives, including functional, regression, performance, and security testing
• Leading manual testing efforts across a range of projects, including eCommerce platforms, internal applications and third-party integrations
• Own the end-to-end process for assigned initiatives
• Act as a quality gatekeeper during release cycles
• Collaborate with developers, UX designers, product owners, and fellow QA engineers to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria
• Drive defect triage and resolution, ensuring clear documentation and prioritization using tools like Jira
• Validate integrations with external and third-party services such as payment gateways, analytics platforms, CRM, ERP, and other cloud-based tools
• Contribute to Agile ceremonies and act as a QA subject matter expert within sprint teams
• Champion continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and documentation
• Support compliance testing aligned with applicable UK regulations such as UK-GDPR, UK Payment Services Regulations and PCI-DSS, Company Policies and FCA Conduct Rules

About You

• Able to commute to Bradford City Centre
• 5-8 years of experience in software testing across web, mobile, and enterprise platforms
• Strong expertise in manual testing techniques, test planning, and defect management
• Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, HTTP) and secure testing practices (e.g., OWASP)
• Experience with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestMo)
• Proven ability to influence quality outcomes and mentor peers
• Experience working across multiple concurrent projects
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Able to balance short-term delivery pressures with long-term quality goals
• Ability to take ownership of quality outcomes and work independently
• Detail-oriented, pragmatic, and focused on business value
• Proactive in identifying risks and driving process improvements
