Talented People is currently recruiting on behalf of a leading UK manufacturer of small household appliances. We are looking for a Design Engineer with 2–3 years of industry experience to join a fast-paced design team, bringing high-quality products from concept through to production.

Role Overview

In this hands-on, design-focused role, you'll be involved at every stage of the product lifecycle. From sketching early concepts to testing prototypes, your creativity and technical skills will help shape the next generation of innovative products.

Key Responsibilities of the Design Engineer:

Develop product concepts and present design sketches to senior stakeholdersProduce technical drawings and manage product documentationConduct benchmark and lifecycle testing to ensure quality and performanceSupport product improvements through data analysis and fault resolutionCollaborate with suppliers, engineers, and internal teamsEnsure safety, compliance, and certification standards are met

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience of the Design Engineer:

Degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or similar2–3 years' experience in a design engineering roleConfident hand sketching and idea presentationProficient in 3D CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks, or similar)Understanding of manufacturing processes and materialsHighly organised, with strong time and project management skills

Desirable:

Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)Rendering software or model-making experienceAnalytical mindset for testing and continuous improvement
