Summary

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious Teaching Assistant Level 3 to work at Pendle View Primary School. The post is to support a pupil on 1:1 who has severe visual impairment. The successful candidate will provide individualised support to this pupil and enable them to access learning and to be safe when moving around the school.

Due to the post being for a specific pupil it will be a Fixed Term Contract for the time the pupil attends Pendle View. The pupil is currently in Year 1.

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced person to join our outstanding staff team. Experience of using Braille or a commitment to be trained in the use of Braille is necessary for this post. Experience of working within a special school / unit setting is essential for this post.

The successful candidate will be working as part of a class team including a teacher, and other teaching assistants. Whilst this post it to provide 1:1 support, in the absence of the named pupil the successful candidate may be asked to support in other classes and may be asked to lead the class in the event of the teacher / class TA3 being absent.

Essential Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or above qualification or equivalent
  Maths and English Language GCSE A* - C or equivalent qualification

Essential Experience

• Experience of working with children as at least TA2b within a special school setting
• Experience of administrative work within a special school classroom
• Experience of supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and / or medical needs within a special school environment

Desirable Experience

• Experience of supporting a pupil with Severe Visual Impairment
• Experience in using Braille to enable a pupil to access learning
