Multi‑Trade Operative – Housing Repairs

Position

Salary: £36,000 – £38,000 per annum based on experience.

• Out‑of‑hours payments: On average around £3,000 per year for emergency call‑outs.

• Company van & fuel card: Fully insured van with fuel card for business use.

• Tools & equipment: Uniform and full PPE

• Benefits: Matched pension contributions of up to 3 %.

• Annual leave: 28 days inclusive of bank holidays.

What You'll Do

Working both in occupied and empty properties, you will diagnose and complete a broad range of repairs and small projects. The work is varied and may include carpentry and joinery, plumbing, plastering and decorating. You will:

1. Deliver first‑time‑fix repairs: Attend responsive repair appointments and complete works right first time.

2. Carry out planned maintenance: Undertake scheduled maintenance projects to improve our customer's housing stock.

3. Comply with regulations: Ensure all works meet current building regulations, quality standards and health & safety legislation.

4. Maintain high standards: Meet or exceed KPIs such as customer satisfaction, productivity, quality of work, recalls and appointments kept.

5. Manage your vehicle: Keep your van clean, fully stocked and well maintained.

6. Participate in the out‑of‑hours rota: Provide an emergency repairs service when scheduled.

7. Procure materials efficiently: Source materials from approved suppliers and maintain accurate records.

8. Maintain job and personal records: Ensure notes, evidence of work before and after, accurate timesheet for all jobs are logged in the system.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a multi‑skilled tradesperson with a main trade complemented by skills across one or more other trades. You should have:

• A recognised building‑related qualification in at least one trade and competency in others.

• Experience completing property repairs in a multi‑trade capacity, ideally in social housing.

• Practical experience using hand tools and light machinery.

• A sound knowledge of site safety, building regulations, quality standards and health & safety law.

• Good IT skills and the ability to use mobile devices to manage appointments and job data.

• A full manual UK driving licence.

• Great people skills and the motivation to leave every customer happy.

• The ability to pass a basic DBS and social media check (required for this role).
