Optical Assistant – Part Time (4 days per week, No Weekends)

Location: Howie & Tickner Opticians

Salary: £24,000 per annum (pro rata)

Experience required: Minimum 1 year in an optical setting

The Role:

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Optical Assistant to join our team for 3–4 days per week. You will play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

No weekend working is required, allowing for a great work–life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming patients and providing excellent customer service
  • Assisting patients with frame selection and lens choices
  • Conducting pre-screening tests and supporting the optometrists
  • Managing appointments, patient records, and general administration
  • Handling payments and maintaining accurate till records
  • Supporting the dispensing and sales process with attention to detail

About You:

  • Minimum of 1 year's experience working in an optical environment (essential)
  • Friendly, professional, and confident when dealing with patients
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small, dedicated team
  • A genuine passion for eye care and patient experience
