Overview
We are seeking a passionate and well-organised individual, with personally lived experience of drug or alcohol dependency and over 24 months of abstinence-based recovery, to join our team. As the Recovery Co-ordinator your primary responsibility will be to oversee a small staff team and organise delivery of recovery support services, ensuring contractual performance standards are met. You will be working within a LERO (Lived Experience Recovery Organisation) alongside other organisations that are jointly delivering treatment and recovery services within the SIAS (Solihull Integrated Addiction Services) partnership.
This role involves some evening and weekend work and travel around the Borough of Solihull. The post holder will need to be able to drive.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
- To ensure efficient and effective delivery of SIAS' recovery services, including leisure activities, therapeutic groups, drop-in hub and DayHab programme.
- To timetable and oversee the work of a team of Peer Support Workers involved in the delivery of recovery services, covering normal office hours, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- To line manage the Peer Support Workers and support them with training and skills development.
- To champion the work of Peer Support Workers and communicate their needs to the Recovery Services Manager and other SIAS staff.
- To work closely with the Volunteer Co-ordinator, who oversees the delivery of SIAS' peer programme - recruiting and training peer volunteers who draw on their lived experience to support others through engagement, treatment and into recovery; provide cover for this role when necessary.
- To support the Recovery Services manager in the delivery of contractual services in line with the Government's Harm to Hope strategy.
- To report to the Recovery Services Manager any issues, concerns or ideas for service development and improvement.
- Represent SIAS Recovery Services at meetings and produce reports for meetings.
- To share in the 'on call' rota for evenings, weekends and public holidays with the Recovery Services Manager and Volunteer Co-ordinator.
In performing the above duties, the post holder will:
- Work across various sites within the Borough of Solihull as required, including but not exclusively, SIAS Newington Centre, Job Centres, Family Hubs, Probation, HMOs, Community Centres.
- Work flexibly within an agreed number of hours of work to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision including late night and weekend support and outreach.
- Seek to improve personal performance, contribution, knowledge, and skills.
- Participate in appraisal, supervision, and Learning & Development processes.
- Keep abreast of developments in services, legislation, and practice relevant to the client group.
- Ensure the implementation of all organizational procedures and policies.
- Contribute to maintaining safe systems of work and a safe environment.
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with partners and other relevant organisations in Solihull.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade of the post, which may arise from time to time.
Qualifications
- 24 months of abstinence-based recovery.
- Full current driving licence.
- Extensive knowledge of the recovery process and the contributing factors to making long term sustained changes in drug and/or alcohol use, criminal behaviour, and social functioning.
- Experience and understanding of the principles of recovery coaching and mentorship.
- Excellent relationship and communication skills
- Excellent understanding of boundaries and risk
- Competent in the use of IT in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications.
- Care Certificate or Health & Social Care Level 3.
