The Role

We are looking for an experienced
Joinery & Carpentry Estimator
to join our team in Wigan.

Working closely with our design, contracts and commercial teams, you will be responsible for pricing bespoke joinery and carpentry packages across high-quality residential and hospitality projects. This includes fitted and loose furniture, doors, skirtings, architraves, staircases and associated works.

You will play a key role in ensuring our projects are accurately costed, commercially robust and delivered in line with Casana's standards of quality and craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for bespoke joinery and carpentry packages from drawings, specifications and site information.
  • Carry out detailed material take-offs and build clear, transparent Bills of Quantities.
  • Price fitted and loose furniture, doors, skirtings, architraves, staircases and any related works, ensuring full scope coverage.
  • Review, interpret and question technical drawings to clarify queries and avoid omissions.
  • Liaise with internal teams (design, contracts, procurement, project management) to align specifications, budgets and programme requirements.
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations, negotiating best value while maintaining quality.
  • Identify value engineering options and alternatives that protect design intent and performance.
  • Assist with tender submissions, client proposals and cost schedules in a clear, professional format.
  • Maintain and develop pricing databases, rate libraries and benchmark information in Excel.
  • Support handover to delivery teams, clearly communicating key commercial and technical assumptions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes, templates and reporting.

Experience & Personal Attributes

Essential:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator within joinery, carpentry or a closely related trade.
  • Strong working knowledge of bespoke joinery and carpentry construction, materials and installation methods.
  • Excellent Excel skills
    – confident building and managing detailed cost models.
  • Ability to read, interpret and work accurately from technical and construction drawings.
  • Strong numerical ability and commercial acumen with a meticulous approach to detail.
  • Highly organised, able to prioritise and manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
  • Confident communicator, able to build effective relationships with colleagues, suppliers and clients.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to quality and high standards of presentation.

Desirable:

  • Experience working on high-end residential or hospitality projects.
  • Knowledge of complementary software (e.g. estimating, project management or drawing review tools).
  • Relevant trade background, qualification or time-served experience in joinery/carpentry.
