Summary

Walton Street Cycles is seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our busy team.

The role offered is a mechanic position focusing on bicycle repairs. It will be based within our mobile repair division and within our new premises in Kidlington.

We are looking for someone who has excellent mechanical knowledge and skill. The role will entail working directly with our external mobile mechanic customers, in our busy workshop, and eventually within our new workshop premises.

Our mobile mechanic, or Bike Dr sessions are set times at various organisations across Oxfordshire, where we bring our fully equipped workshop and professional repairs to their workplace. It is a continued area of growth for us, with full time vehicles in operation.

_ A valid UK driving licence is essential for this position as you will be using one of our fully equipped work vans. _

We are currently expanding and will soon have a new premises in Kidlington with a dedicated workshop, office and storage space. This role will be split mainly between mobile repairs and the new premises.

Overall, we want someone friendly and hardworking who has a genuine passion for cycling. We are a sociable bunch and have fun while we work.

We specialise in all types of bikes and cycling, and we get to see all of the latest product on the market as well as very early technology. We take pride in being able to fix anything.

Our current new bike brands include; Brompton, Genesis, Scott, Raleigh, Pashley, Kona, Gazelle, Dawes, Claud Butler, Roland & PUKY but take pride in being able to fix anything.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing and repairing customers bikes
  • Building new bikes
  • Maintaining hire bike fleet
  • Reconditing used bikes
  • Liaising with customers about their requirements (both repairs and sales)
  • Running mobile 'Bike Dr' events
  • Assisting customers find the best solution for their cycling requirements

About Us

We are Oxfordshire's oldest and largest bicycle shop; we are proud of our heritage and always strive to provide our customers with a great experience. We run a very busy shop, rental fleet, tours and workshop taking pride in our repairs, we believe in honest hard work and providing ongoing training and development skills for all members of staff – we want our team to be the best and invest in achieving this.

We are an accredited Shimano Service Centre a premium Shimano Electric bike centre. We have the best equipped and largest workshop in Oxford.

We currently 15 full time members of staff and 2 part time members.

  • Holiday entitlement is 28 days calculated pro-rata on full pay per annum. We are open on bank holidays and anytime off will need to be booked in advance.
