Are you an experienced Operations Leader ready for a new challenge?

Join British Steel as our Port Manager at the Immingham Bulk Terminal – a critical hub in our supply chain and home to deep-water unloading facilities that keep our steel production moving. This 89-acre site handles iron ore, coke, and coal, supporting the manufacture of over 2.8 million tonnes of steel every year.

With capacity to process up to nine million tonnes of raw materials annually, the terminal plays a vital role in our operations. As we embark on an ambitious decade-long investment programme focused on decarbonisation and modernisation, you'll lead your team through exciting transformation projects, including multi-million-pound capital investments.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a strategic investment programme shaping the future of British Steel.
  • Lead operations at a high-profile site central to UK steelmaking.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.
  • Work with state-of-the-art equipment, including our new Ardelt Tukan K 3000 cranes.

What You'll Do

As Port Manager, you'll:

  • Provide strategic leadership for all operations at Immingham Bulk Terminal, including port management, safety, environment, manufacturing, and despatch.
  • Oversee end-to-end processes from inbound goods to outbound delivery, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  • Collaborate across functions and with external partners to maintain a seamless supply chain.
  • Lead your team through major change programmes, ensuring engagement and performance.
  • Manage budgets and deliver against weekly, monthly, and annual plans.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in 24/7 port or marine operations of significant scale and complexity.
  • Strong safety leadership with a track record of managing high-risk environments.
  • Expertise in commodity unloading/loading operations and operational management.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement and large-scale change.
  • Degree-level education in Engineering, Logistics, Business Management, or Marine Operations.
  • Ability to lead a multi-disciplined, shift-based workforce and align manufacturing objectives with business goals.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and experience in a unionised environment.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies (advantageous).
