Computershare are currently looking to recruit a .Net Developer to join Global Development Engineering within Computershare Technology Services.

This is a hybrid position primarily based in our Edinburgh office, centrally located in St Andrews Square.

This position sits within a cross-functional technical development team to deliver new or enhanced capabilities across a portfolio of applications and supporting frameworks.

You will collaborate with stakeholders to design, build, test and deploy well-implemented, high-quality software solutions which satisfy expectations and deliver value.

Why would you choose this role when there are other Developer roles in the market? Well, there are a few things that make this role stand out:

  • Innovation - you will be part of a digital transformation project that is leading the way in changing how we operate as an organisation.

  • Working in a highly technical team, you will be able to learn from senior developers on a daily basis.

  • Time allocated each week for self-learning.

  • Career progression opportunities with the chance to move into other roles within the organisation such as Senior or Lead Developer.

A role you will love

We are a busy team and operate in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, so you will be readily adaptable and prioritise self-learning and development. You will also be required to be inquisitive and show a strong passion for what you do.

You will contribute within your development team and embrace continuous improvement across the wider team.

Some key responsibilities:

  • Apply technical knowledge and expertise to design, build, test and deploy changes to applications and underlying frameworks to deliver business value, meet stakeholder expectations and avoid creating technical debt.

  • Apply knowledge of standards, policies and organisational structure so that you can work both independently and collaboratively within your team and with key stakeholders.

  • Through the quality of your own work ensure that your team delivers high-quality, maintainable software which adheres to internal standards and policies.

  • Collaborate with others by providing informal guidance and sharing knowledge with colleagues to enable them to contribute to the team's objectives.

  • Support the evaluation and resolution of technical challenges and blockers to minimise their impact on the team's delivery and/or supported products.

  • Embrace and support improvements and innovation in technologies/practices within your team that would benefit the business e.g. efficiency in the software development process or improved customer experience.

What will you bring to the role?

You will demonstrate previous experience as a Developer and have a clear passion for the role.

Other key skills required for the role include:

  • An experienced .NET (C#) developer with extensive experience of .Net Core and an interest in the latest tech and architecture - RESTful APIs, cloud, containerisation and NoSQL approaches.

  • Experience in an Agile development and/or DevOps environment, embracing the adoption of automation in testing and use of CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery.

  • Knowledge and experience of applying best practice engineering principles and practices for design, build, test and deployment.

  • Collaborates and communicates well, builds great working relationships, influences others, challenges effectively and responds well to challenge from others, shares information and ideas with others, has good listening skills.

  • Has a strong work ethic and is able to deal with sometimes conflicting priorities.
