Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate Care Assistant to join our team in providing essential care and support to individuals in a Day Care setting. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for helping others.

  1. To undertake the full range of caring duties in accordance RQIA Regulations NISCC and RCD standards.

  2. To encourage service users to maintain maximum independence in a user-friendly setting.

  3. To undertake such personal and intimate duties as may be required for individual service users in the Centre.

  4. Escort and assist service users, as required, in and around the Centre, e.g. to and from the dining room, toilets etc.,

  5. To encourage social interactions between service users and enable them to make use of any available recreational facilities.

  6. To provide support and guidance to colleagues in fulfilling the duties of their posts as required by RQIA.

  7. Where applicable to participate in staff meetings, attend supervision sessions and where possible to attend reviews and to assist in implementing recommendations as they relate to individual service users and too the group as a whole.

  8. To carry out all required safety precautions, fire drills and personal and food hygiene practices.

  9. Encourage community involvement and interaction.

  10. To undertake all relevant duties deemed necessary by The Resource Centre Derry.

  11. To adhere to existing work practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and to respond positively to new and alternative systems.

  12. Work with information technology and associated systems in accordance with Centre policies.

  13. Comply with relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures in the performance of the duties of the post.

  14. To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post in compliance with the Centre's policies.

  15. To maintain confidentially and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate.

  16. To understand and comply with the centre's environmental policies.
