Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom Cosgrove & Drew Engineering Services Full time

Own the data. Drive the change.

Cosgrove & Drew are a fast-growing mechanical, electrical & facilities management business delivering complex projects across the South West. We're now looking for someone to take the lead on how we use data — bringing context, clarity, and smarter decision-making to every part of the business.

This is a standalone role and the first of its kind within C&D. You'll sit at the heart of our senior leadership team, working directly with Operations, Finance, and Continuous Improvement to turn raw data into meaningful insight and automation that makes life easier for everyone.

What you'll do

  • Own and develop our BI & automation strategy across the company.
  • Build and maintain dashboards that actually tell a story — using Power BI, Simpro, Excel, and SQL.
  • Design simple automations with Power Automate or Zapier to cut out repetitive admin.
  • Create a consistent KPI and reporting framework that connects people with performance.
  • Support senior managers with data that adds context, not clutter.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and make better use of our systems.

What you'll bring

  • Solid experience using Power BI, SQL, and Power Automate (or similar tools).
  • Comfortable working with operational data from systems like Simpro, SharePoint, and Excel.
  • A curious mind — always asking "what's this data really telling us?"
  • Ability to translate technical work into plain English for non-technical teams.
  • Organised, self-directed, and happy owning your roadmap.

Experience

  • Proven experience in automation development within a business environment, ideally involving project management responsibilities.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL (including SQL Server), R, Python, VBA, Bash (Unix shell), Tableau, Power BI, and Visio.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of SDLC methodologies and business analysis techniques.
  • Experience with database design principles using Oracle or similar relational database systems.
  • Familiarity with analysis skills necessary for interpreting complex datasets and presenting findings effectively.
  • Prior exposure to business intelligence tools combined with excellent organisational skills in managing multiple projects simultaneously. This role offers an engaging environment for professionals eager to leverage their technical expertise in automation while contributing to organisational growth through innovative data solutions.

Why join us

  • You'll have full ownership of BI & automation within a business that genuinely listens.
  • You'll work directly with the leadership team and see your work make an impact fast.
  • You'll shape the future of how C&D and the wider group use data.
  • Clear progression and opportunity to grow the function over time.

If you're ready to build something from the ground up — and you love making systems talk, dashboards make sense, and reports mean something — we'd love to hear from you.
