About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our growing property development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of property finance, project cost tracking, and financial compliance within the real estate or construction sectors.
You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing payments and reconciliations, and supporting the wider finance and project management teams with timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Record and reconcile all financial transactions related to property developments, acquisitions, and sales.
- Track project costs, budgets, and funding drawdowns.
- Prepare and maintain cash flow statements and forecasts.
- Process supplier invoices, contractor payments, and expense claims.
- Maintain accurate ledgers and journals in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan accounts monthly.
- Assist with VAT returns, CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) submissions, and HMRC compliance.
- Support external accountants with quarterly and annual reporting.
- Prepare regular financial summaries for management.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven bookkeeping experience, ideally within property development, construction, or real estate.
- Proficient in Xero, QuickBooks, or similar accounting software.
- Strong understanding of CIS, VAT, and basic UK accounting standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management.
- Strong Excel skills and ability to produce clear financial reports.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality.
