We aim to create an environment where every child can thrive and achieve their potential, delivering great services. Enabling increased levels of independence and choice of our residents living in strong and connected communities.
We currently have an exciting new full-time opportunity for a Head of Passenger Transport to lead, and be responsible for, the delivery of a busy frontline All Age Travel Service that arranges and oversees travel assistance for children, young people and adults with additional needs and disabilities. The service oversees the commissioning of direct transport provision, independent travel training, and personal budgets.

We are looking for a transport management professional who can successfully engage with a range of stakeholders from children and their families to senior leaders and partners to ensure an efficient and effective, passenger focussed transport service, which is safe and delivers best value. Evidenced based commissioning and procurement of transport services for children, young people and adults is essential to the role, increasing quality and reducing inequality.
Applicants must have:
- Experience of managing transport services
- Experience of commissioning and procuring transport services (ideally with a strong working knowledge of SEN transport, statutory processes, and best practice)
- Experience of route planning
- Ability to manage large budgets
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills and the ability to build effective relationships with families, schools, and multi-agency partners, while maintaining a clear focus on outcomes, quality assurance and compliance
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
- A commitment to co-production and inclusive practice
- The ability to influence and drive continuous service improvement.
To help us achieve our aims and objectives we are looking to recruit someone who shares our passion and vision and who has a desire to commission and manage excellent transport services for our service users.
