We are currently recruiting for a
Damp & Mould Surveyor
to join our team in Kingston.
The Damp and Mould Surveyor is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and managing issues related to damp, mould, and condensation across the social housing stock. The role involves conducting property inspections, identifying root causes, specifying remedial works, and ensuring that homes are maintained to a safe, habitable standard in compliance with housing regulations and health and safety requirements.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Carry out detailed inspections of residential properties to assess and diagnose causes of damp, mould, and condensation.
- Prepare comprehensive survey reports, including photographic evidence, technical assessments, and recommendations for remedial action.
- Identify building defects contributing to damp and mould, such as leaks, ventilation issues, or structural problems.
- Specify and schedule repair works, liaising with contractors, maintenance teams, and residents to ensure timely and effective resolution.
- Monitor and quality-check completed works to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to colleagues, residents, and partner organisations on damp and mould prevention and management.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, reports, and communications using relevant housing or asset management systems.
- Contribute to the organisation's strategy for improving housing conditions and tackling damp and mould across the stock.
- Support resident engagement and education initiatives to raise awareness of ventilation, condensation control, and property care.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation.
Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience in building surveying, property inspection, or maintenance within the social housing or residential sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of building pathology, particularly in diagnosing damp, mould, and condensation issues.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Experience preparing detailed survey reports and specifying remedial works.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to liaise sensitively with residents.
- Good understanding of relevant legislation, housing standards, and health & safety regulations.
- Proficient in using housing management or asset management software.
